Baraka Power Limited has obtained the Government approval to install Power Plant having generation capacity of 50 MW at Patenga, Chittagong. Baraka Power has formed a Project Company namely Baraka Patenga Power Limited (BPPL), a 51% subsidiary company of Baraka Power Limited and signed Power Supply Agreement on Build Own Operate (BOO) basis with BPDB on 31 July 2011 for a term of 15 years to provide 50 MW net electrical powers to BPDB. Under the scope, BPPL will build, own and operate the electricity generation facility on BOO basis and sell electricity output to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). BPPL has already signed Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Implementation Agreement (IA) with BPDB on July 31, 2011. The Project was awarded through a competitive bidding process by BPDB to supply power for 15 years as Independent Power Plant (IPP).
As a part of the new power generation for the country Baraka Patenga Power Limited (BPPL) will set up a HFO based power plant having 50 MW capacity on a Build- Own-Operate (BOO) basis located at Patenga, Chittagong at a cost of BDT 3150.00 million approx.
The plant will use total 8 units of Brand new Rolls-Royce B32:40V16 liquid fuel engines having a generation capacity of 6.984 MW per unit along with other balance of plants.
